Bernie Mac was laid to rest this past Saturday (August 16, 2008). This was a great loss for us all. People in the Chicago area took it real hard. He was Chicago’s own successful comedian and movie star and many around here could say “I knew him when…”. He attended a popular high school here; Chicago Vocational High school and even after all his success in comedy, movies and his TV show, The Bernie Mac Show, he still lived in the suburbs of Chicago with his wife of over 30 years. Besides being a big star he
was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and I am sure those were his most important roles.
My condolences go out to his family. We lost Mr. Bernie Mac much too soon. Though Bernie Mac died of pneumonia, he had been dealing with a condition called sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease. Reports state that his sarcoidosis was in remission but an interesting question was asked by one writer, “was Bernie Mac’s death another casualty of conventional medicine?”
